My toughest challenge as a collector...

The Card Swap project has been my most real attempt at trying to make cards some sort of revenue source. Growing up I always dreamed of owning a card shop of mine. The dream is still there and maybe one day. If this site picks up steam and does well I would love to try a physical location to go with it. Over the years I have set up at a few shows here and there but never anything like this. The shows gave me a small taste of the toughest challenge for me as a collector, but now the site needs more products it has gotten a whole lot worse. WHAT DO I SELL AND WHAT DO I KEEP?!? About four months ago I was at a show where a buyer bought out most of my collection for sale. It wasn't a huge lot bu

My best "hit" ever

In sticking with the theme of "what I love about collecting", I decided not to wait long to share the story of the best card I ever got in a pack. It was last summer, my wife and I took a yearly visit to Cooperstown. It's my favorite place on earth for so many reasons, and I would love to open up a card shop there in my future. This trip was quicker than the other times we visit, but after hours of checking out the shops, I walked to in a small shop on the end. It was by the car and we were on our way out of town. This shop is one that I have had luck at in the past, but mostly just singles for sale at good prices. I saved it for last because I knew I would find something. But I didn't, they

The Cal I Never Knew About...

Hands down, one of my favorite cards in my collection is the 1982 Topps Traded Cal Ripken Jr. Everyone knows his 1982 Topps Future Stars rookie with Bob Bonner and Jeff Schneider. Ok, you may remember the card but not the players. It's not like I had to Google "who else was on the cal ripkens topps rookie". Though I can't confirm this, I would imagine most people, like me, prefer players rookie cards to be a solo card. Yes I am about to bring up Nolan Ryan 1968 Topps rookie. I always wanted a Nolan Ryan rookie, and I am glad I found an affordable one, but I prefer his 1969 Topps card because of the solo photograph. I thought I knew Cal Ripken cards, I thought I knew Cal Ripken rookie cards.

The Card Swap's First Pitch

Thank you for visiting our Blog. For the first post, I wanted to really outline what my vision for the Card Swap. I love collecting. You will notice this in that no breaks will contain the Baltimore Orioles. Sorry O's fans! Though this seems like a "business", I want to build my PC like the rest of you. My hopes are that it can grow to be a small card community where people can meet others with similar card interests, have some good discussions about the hobby, and make some deals. As far as my PC and what I love to collect, Manny Machado is my super PC. I currently am at 614 different Mannys, and 1054 Total. I also collect Topps flagship product for a project for my daughter.
